TCiTé: a RÉGÎM project that will offer new and innovative services to the people of the region

The Conseil régional de l’environnement Gaspésie – Îles-de-la-Madeleine (CREGÎM), in collaboration with six partner municipalities (Carleton-sur-Mer, Maria, Chandler, Grande-Rivière, Gaspé and Îles-de-la-Madeleine), is joining forces with RÉGÎM for the TCiTé project. This project to introduce an intelligent electric public transit system is aimed at developing a diversified slate of services that provide the region with technically and socially innovative transportation possibilities.

When completed, the project will increase the travel options offered by RÉGÎM. In the coming months, the following services will be available to the client population:

  • Carsharing using electric vehicles (in conjunction with the SAUVéR project);
  • An app for taxi and carpooling routes;
  • Carpooling using electric vehicles.

All these services will also be managed through a MaaS mobile app that will bring together information on the slate of transportation services.

Technology serving transportation

RÉGÎM TCiTé is based on a MaaS-type system and tools for managing public transit use. The system is designed to enable intelligent integration of the new services with existing RÉGÎM services. The goal of the project and of the new tools is to provide the community with a tool to optimize public transit use.

The system and tools integrate information and communications technology (ICT) to boost operational and urban transit efficiency. Offering offer economy-of-scale tools and functions that increase services to citizens, the system will be a social and economic value-added product for the community.

Environmental benefits

With TCiTé, RÉGÎM will make ecologic equipment and electrification of transportation a priority which will yield substantial environmental benefits in terms of GGE reduction. In Québec, this electrification could translate into reductions in the vicinity of 98%.
