Free public transit for everyone this summer!

This summer, RÉGÎM is going the distance. In the past, only young people under age 18 could ride buses on regular RÉGÎM routes free of charge. This year, everyone can travel that way! From July 1 to August 31, anyone who wants to use RÉGÎM services will have access to regular public transit without having to pay.

“This summer, we want to make public transit more of an option for the people of the region and for tourists. In a way, free summer travel will be our contribution to restarting the regional economy in the current context. The measures put in place by RÉGÎM make it possible to limit the spread of COVID-19 and we want to reassure travellers. Public transit is safe and we’re doing everything to protect our customers and our personnel,” said Daniel Côté, RÉGÎM president, MRC de La Côte-de-Gaspé prefect and mayor of Gaspé.

Marie-Andrée Pichette, RÉGÎM’s general manager, believes that this promotion will enable the people of the region to discover or rediscover public transit and make a habit of it. “While public transit costs less than using a car, having to pay for our service may be a deterrent at times. Free travel will make RÉGÎM even more attractive for the public as a whole, including tourists,” she added.

Note that this promotion does not apply to RÉGÎM’s paratransit service.
